Q: Can all my iPhoto Libraries work with 9.2.3, since automatically upgrading since 2012?

In January 2011, I purchased an iMac with iPhoto installed, and I set the preference file to automatic updates.

I haven't had time to pay great attention to all things iPhoto, so I just added photos thoughtlessly. Now I have 4 or 5 libraries and I'm asked to choose one for the current blank iPhoto 9.2.3. I have no idea what to choose. Will they all work on 9.2.3, since they've automatically updated throughout the 5 years? Or is there just one that will work, or can I alternate at different times and think that they'll all be workable? I have no idea. I'm using Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and I don't want to upgrade anything right now. Does anyone have any idea what I can anticipate? Thanks in advance for any light you might shed on this.

VIN, iMac (21.5-inch Mid 2010), Mac OS X (10.6.8), iPhoto 9.2.3

Maybe - it depends on unknown information like what version of iPhoto they were created with - basically if they were created by iPhoto '09 or '11 they will - if they were created with iPhoto '08 or earlier you will need to download and run the iPhoto library upgrader - Using the iPhoto Library Upgrader tool - Apple Support

try to open each one and see exactly what happens

Thanks for your suggestion to download the support tool. I have done that, but when iPhoto opens, it shows that there are 684 photos and 52 videos dating from March 2010 to Dec. 25, 2011. In the Faces section, it lists the names of all there, but everything is blank. This library may be from my G4 computer, because in Jan. 2011 I bought the iMac. I don't know why the upgrader tool would not work or just work some with no real results, but this now is my only problem, because I was able to successfully open all other libraries. Thanks again for your help.

Thanks for your suggestion to download the support tool. I have done that, but when iPhoto opens,

Just to be sure, you not only need to download the iPhoto Library Upgrader, you need to run it as well.  It. will be in the folder Applications > Utilities.

I have downloaded and have run the upgrader tool, and after a while I realized it had worked. All I needed to do was close iPhoto and then hold down the option key while reopening iPhoto. There I could choose an iPhoto Library, which was a stab in the dark, but it was the right one. It would have been great if I could only have been able to click on one in the list, and then seek information on it, since few were labeled as anything different from simply iPhoto Library. It was difficult to discern one from another. Nevertheless, I think many photos were successfully saved from my old G4 computer to be viewed once more. Thank you all for your kind suggestions.

You're welcome.   Good luck for the update

I would open one library after the other, then rename them in the Finder to something more descriptive, so you can easily tell which library you are about to open. Just do not change the filename extension.
