Q: Bluetooth not finding my keyboard

My batteries died inside my apple keyboard and after I replaced them bluetooth can't locate it. It picks up my magic mouse. Any help will be greatly appriciated.

iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2014), OS X El Capitan (10.11.5)

Open System Preferences > Bluetooth

You can pair the keyboard from there.

I tried that. I only see the mouse.
above next to"DEVICES" I get the spinning wheel as it searches for new devices.
