Q: revive an old website

this may be in the wrong section but i really tried hard to find somewhere more appropriate, without success!

i still have a website running, made years ago with iweb 3.0.4.

It looks good and to be honest i'm really sad that apple chose to lose this simple, elegant, (free) program!

however the site i made is fairly heavy (by my standards) at about 60 pages, and i'm now in a position where i'd really like to revamp it, for a new, but very similar purpose...

so problems spring up, and if anyone can answer ANY of them i'd be REALLY grateful !!!

1 i need to move the site to a new computer. maybe a mac, maybe a pc, but either way i have to find the Domain.sites file, but it's invisible (I'm in os10.11.6). i've seen the stuff about putting "chflags nohidden ~/Library" in terminal, but nothing i ever do in terminal seems to work.. (not that i try often). I'm a mac user. terminal is alien to me. and i typed it in, but still can't find Domain.sites..

2 obviously iWeb is long gone. Is there a current mac program that will open my old site for editing? if not a pc program?

3 and if all else fails, please can someone recommend something as simple and elegant as iWeb that i can copy and paste 60 pages of hard worked content to, so that i only have to re-format and remake the links..!!??

or has the world moved on so much??!!

thanks in advance for your help

To move your file, use iWebSites :

    http://wyodor.byethost8.com/iwebsites/iWebSites.html

It also has the infomation how to find the file manually.

Down the page with topics you can find the answer to your question what other applications to use.

It's been discussed in thousands of topics for the past millennium.

Don't bother fiddling around with terminal, it is just not necessary.

In OS El Capitan, all you need to do is go to to Go menu at the top of the page and then click on the 'alt' key and this will then show up your user library where your iWeb folder should be and your domain.sites will be.

iWeb is a Mac only application and will NOT work on a pc and there is no application that does not have a steep learning curve that will import your site - the only one that has html import facilities will be Dreamweaver, that costs a lot and Flux 6.  Flux is cheaper but might be hard going to try and learn.

You won't be able to use a pc application.

If you want to copy and paste your site in this fashion, then the best application to go for is EverWeb - this is a successor to iWeb - see here EverWeb
