Q: IOS 9.3.3 Created Bluetooth Issue

I upgraded from IOS 9.3.2 to IOS 9.3.3 two days ago. Since upgrading I have been unable to use my in-car bluetooth FM transmitter to play music and podcasts via a designated FM radio station. The module I use is an iSimple Tranzmit BLU ISFM22 module that is attached to the stock radio of my car. In conjunction with their IOS app, this allowed me to play anything from my iPhone through the FM radio. I have successfully used this system with two iPhones (currently an iPhone 6) since June of 2014. My wife and daughter also have iPhone 6's. They have not upgraded to IOS 9.3.3.  Both of them can easily use the system in my car via the app. I could until I upgraded. Thus, I can only conclude that the upgrade has affected the ability of my bluetooth to effectively access this device.

1) I want to point out this bug in hopes it might be addressed and in hopes that others will inspect their ability to use Bluetooth devices. Perhaps this bug affects only a few devices.

2) I would like to know how to downgrade to IOS 9.3.2 until such time that a fix might be issued. I like to use the Bluetooth transmitter daily on commutes. This is a big enough issue to me to downgrade immediately!

Thank you for any assistance on either point. Thank you to anyone else who inspects their Bluetooth capabilities after upgrading and reports their findings.

iPhone 6, iOS 9.3.3, null

Apple does not support downgrading iOS.

Contact iSimple Tranzmit to see if they have an update available for iOS 9.3.3 compatibility.

Sorry to say but Apple does not support downgrades so no way to return to 9.3.2. You could try the steps below, they could help.

Try a Forced Restart. Hold down the Home and Wake/Sleep buttons at the same time for about 15 seconds until the Apple logo appears. You will not lose anything.

If a forced restart does not help try a System Restore. First backup your device using iTunes. Also import your photos to your computer and copy all important data. Try restoring from backup first and testing it. If it does not help, you may have to restore as New and reconfigure from scratch as the backup could be corrupted. For this reason it is important to have your photos and data saved separately from the backup. Here are the steps for a Restore:

Edit: I just read Carolyn's comment above. Try that first.

I wish you could see me smiling. (Impossible, first because I'm not posting a picture and second because I'm not smiling.) The very first thing I did was call iSimple. They do not have an update to support whatever Apple changed in 9.3.3. They, quite naturally, suggested I contact Apple for a fix since it was something that the latest update BROKE that needs to be fixed. I appreciate both camps want to "hand off" this issue. I, on the other hand, simply want a system that works, which was the case before 9.3.3!!!

Yes, I tried a forced restart, even before making the call to iSimple. I also uninstalled and reinstalled their app. To no avail.

Before I go to the pain of a System Restore, please let me know what this hopes to accomplish. It seems to me this step is to install a fresh IOS on the chance that the one I just upgraded to was somehow corrupt. I would rather ditch 9.3.3.

You are correct, all it would do is install a fresh copy of iOS in case the upgrade got corrupted. While not often this does happen. Now, what are the odds of this solving your issue? I wish I could tell you, it may or may not. System restores have resolved a lot of problems however if the issue is solely with the App (even though they deny it) then a restore will do nothing.

If it was me I would do the restore as New first, download the app and test it. If it does not help then I would restore the backup so you don't have to configure all from scratch which is a pain, I know.

Can you, or someone, point me to a way to officially alert Apple as to this situation? i.e. Is there a way to report a bug? I do not believe these forums constitute that way! In the past, these forums are very helpful as a user-to-user interface only. Thank you for any assistance. I will, also, contact iSimple again and appeal to them to update their app. I fear that their efforts, and Apple's efforts, will depend on the number of such reports. In the meantime, I can assure you 9.3.3 broke something in the functionality of Bluetooth with this product. I use Bluetooth for a few other tasks and will now examine them for connectivity.

To provide feedback to Apple try this form. http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

They read all, I am told, but they do not respond.

    Good News!!

Apple has a Twitter support feed (@AppleSupport) that got back to me in minutes with a solution that worked!! Here is a link to the solution, in case anyone else might have this issue:  https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203412?cid=tw_sr    The pertinent section is the first section, "If you're using Bluetooth..."  The instructions pertain specifically for car Bluetooth devices, probably intended for factory installed devices, but this worked with the ISFM22! It looks to me like it was a way to reset the Bluetooth connection and start from scratch. Well, it worked! I have tried it three times, shutting the car off and shutting off my phone. Then, enter the car, start the engine and notice that my Bluetooth is now automatically connecting with the Tranzit BLU. I make sure in the app that is turned to ON. Hit the music on my phone and within a few seconds it is playing through the FM channel like it should! Woohoo!
