Tomb Raider won't load

I recently purchased a new Mac Book Pro (2015, 2.7GHz), and have run into a problem with a number of games. I previously had a Mac Book Pro from 2011, I think, and was able to play Tomb Raider, purchased from the App Store, despite having what were, perhaps, less than desirable processing capabilities. Based on the numbers, my new computer should have no problem, yet there is an issue. I downloaded the game, and clicked the icon in my applications folder. The initial dialogue came up just fine, asking if I wanted a different language pack or some other DLC. I then selected the 'play' button, at which point the dialogue window closed and I assumed the game was loading. This seemed normal, and on my old computer the game took a while to get going so I thought the same might be happening here. Instead, it just sat there, literally for hours; the screen never went into full screen for the game, the content never seemed to load. Does anyone know what the problem is? I honestly am unsure of what to do.
