If you have a iPad 1 (no camera) it can't be updated beyond IOS 5.1.1.

You're welcome. Fortunately only the newest apps like 3-D games actually need IOS 7 and above. Other apps like Facebook and Youtube offer legacy (older) versions of their apps that run fine. Don't forget with Safari you have internet versions of many of the apps. Your iPad 1 still has years in it before it's ready for the trash.

Should you want to upgrade with the introduction of the iPad Pro 9.7" you can now get a iPad Air 2 16GB direct from Apple for $100 less then you paid for your iPad 1. Now that's a bargin. 🙂

What apps do you need to use from your service provider?

Are these service provider apps ones you regularly use?

If you need iOS 7 or greater, you need a new/newer iPad model.

If this is an absolute, since iOS 10 is comimg and it is leaving behind iPad2, 3 and 1st gen Mini models, if you wind up needing to purchase a new/newer iPad, only look at iPad 4, Air, Air 2, Pro, Mini 2, Mini 3 or the new Mini 4 models.

Good Luck!
