Q: iPad mini not able to stream with apple TV

Greetings!

My IOS version is 9.3.3, and tvOS is 9.2.1

I able to locate apple TV from Airplay, however, i just not able to stream or mirror my iPad to the apple TV. Is there anything that i need to reset? I have been trying few times with different applications, also with another set of apple TV with older tvOS, is not working as well.

Will it because of OS compatibility?

Appreciate your kind advise & help.

Cheers!

they need to be on the same LAN network and the required ports needs to be allowed on that network

it does not work across the Internet

There is an update for your Apple TV but that won't be the reason it isn't working although updating the software may reset something that does help. If not...

Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.

    1. Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
    2. Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
    3. Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
    4. Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
    5. Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
    6. Restart your mobile device.

Pretty much the only way I can get Airplay to work on my ATV4s is to restart the ATV4 from the settings screen....every time I want to use Airplay....same as with Home Sharing.

    Dear all,

Yes it solve my issues now by restarting the apple TV, restarting from the setting menu before turn "on & off" the airplay, i tried few times, basically, when the steaming not working, have to:

    1. Go to setting, turn ON & OFF the airplay

    2. Restart the apple TV from the setting menu

Buy of troublesome, hopefully the next version upgrade will able to resolve this issues.

    Cheers!

    Hi,

Glad you have a workaround, but it should not work that way.

If you have multiple ATVs on the same network, have you given them different names?

When you open AirPlay from the iPad Control Center, what icon do you see beside Apple TV?

What happens when you enable AirPlay and try to play a video, from YouTube, say?

Has 9.2.2 not made any difference for you.

Since I haven't had the same issue I'd suspect it relates to your specific setting or environment, which I suspect means updates may or may not change things for you.

    Dear Diana

    Thanks for your kind help.

    To address your questions:

    1. Yes, i have multiple ATVs, and each of them having different name with same wifi network.

    2. From Airplay (iPad Control Centre), i see iPad icon and ATVs icon with different name.

    3. Tested few times, seems like playing from YouTube is stable, however streaming some other video applications (downloaded movies) are not. Sometimes able to stream and sometimes need to re-start both ATVs and iPad.

    4. I have two iPads with same version, having the same issues too.

    Cheers!
