Does it fix the massive slowdown that started when I installed El Cap. My iMac went to a crawl in every click I did. Unbelievable. IMAC 27 inch Late 2013. 10.11.5 (15F34)

I can't think of a better way to say what I said. Massive slowdowns in every dam thing you do. every click. everything period. It did speed up a lot with the new update but has since slowed down again but not as bad as before. At this rate I suspect it will be back to a crawl in another few weeks.

You really should post the EtreCheck report as Lex suggested.

    Returned at last.

    - Uninstall Zipcloud seems necessary, as Eric Root already said.

    - I am not completely sure about Cuda, let's see later whether we have to do something about it.

com.sidefx.sesinetd.plist  is reported as being a cause for hangs and other issues.

    Then to clean a bit:

. Uninstall Pepper Flashplayer, not needed, do this in the FlashPlayer applet in SystemPreferences.

. Uninstall Perian: SystemPreferences->Perian: ctl+click and "remove": Perian is not supported anymore, it is a large bunch of codecs, that for long time are licensed to the apps that use it. So it does not do anything anymore here.

. Other plugins that you do not need anymore: Director Shockwave and DivX: you find them here:

StartupDisk(internal OSX)->Library->InternetPlug-ins folder: just delete Shockwave. DivX should be uninstalled there, there are launchAgents/Daemons running.

. Then an advice: delete AdblockPlus (they are not kosher, install either Adblock or Ublock.

. and I am not so sure about the Safari plugin  SaveFrom.net helper this video downloader is perhaps the cause of the enormous Webkit webcontent resource hunger.

    Lex,

I'm curious. What about AdBlockPlus is not "kosher"? It's in the Safari Extensions gallery, it's available for Firefox and Chrome. It works very well. Personally I've used it ever since it became available on OSX, Windows and Linux. I'm just wondering what you think makes it not kosher?

    Brain:

That it is in Apple extensions page or even in the AppStore does not mean anything, but that it is programmed correctly to communicate in OSX. Even MacKeeper was there once (under the name of 911app).

The extensions for safari are free, so one has to ask yourself what do these developers do to earn a living... Well like the so called aggregate sites, they sell ad space or they make a "hole" to let through advertisements for those companies that pay enough. (Aggregate sites, like CNET, Download.com, Softonic, Macupdate...)

Adblock's Michael is a very honest man, he does not do that, he went broke rather than doing that. He came back with support from others and now asks for donations instead and lets the client vote for blacklist and white list.

AdblockPlus, Ghostery (even worse) and what have you, have the holes, without telling. AdblockPlus was found out a few years ago, they first denied everything, then they got a civil law suit and they promised to do better, but there still seem to be holes.

The only one except Adblock, that I trust is Ublock: but I am not sure and can not prove it, it was recommended by a friend who I trust completely and who works with this guy Chris Aljoudi that made the blocker.

    Have fun.

Is the WiFiAgent still crashing continuously?

Etrecheck is just a snapshot, but that snapshot shows that the WiFiAgent is crashing continuously. The OS will keep trying to restart it which will slow things down a bit. You can look in Console under Diagnostic Reports to see if it has been continuously logging crash reports.

I'm not sure what you have installed that would cause it to crash, though.

    As I thought.

Please find a link where they were sued because of holes. Even if there was such a thing frivolous lawsuits are common. Not to mention even if there were holes a user can block any ad or site a user felt like by adding it to the blacklist. Just another example of foolishness.

BTW, some people develop software because they enjoy it. The way they make money is by being employed.

It is not if or how this is solved, it is about character !

It was about 2 or 3 years ago.

The aggregate sites are easier: just download something and run the downoaded file in Virustotal. Not all are "manipulated" but a lot are...

That's okay. My question had nothing to do with so called "aggregate sites".
