One Apple ID can be used for everything you do with Apple (iCloud, App Store, iMessage, FaceTime, this forum, etc).

Normally you would want to use the same Apple ID to log into those services on every device that you own. Using the same ID allows you to easily sync data between the devices.

A single Apple ID only has one password.

Ideally you want to use the same AppleID and its single password for all your dealings with Apple. Once you start making purchases with a second AppleID management becomes very complicated as you cannot merge content between two IDs.
