Why is the Share My Location device keep changing?

Why does the device in Share My Location keep changing? I have several Apple devices logged into one appleid. I do not want to change this. On all of the devices the device selected changes. I constantly have to go back and select 'this device'. Seconds later, it changes to another device again. What will happen if I delete a device listed since there are several listed?
