Transferring contacts away from Gmail to Apple Contacts

Hello,

I'm closing down multiple gmail email account and will be using a new one. I don't want to lose all my contacts and want to use Contacts on my MacBook Pro and iPhone to manage all my contacts in the future. How do I best consolidate and manage them?

Thank you!

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.4)

Greetings, peacereality,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. It looks like you're ready to put all of your contacts in one basket. I use a few gmail accounts myself and love using iCloud for my contacts instead. I'll be glad to show you how that's done.
By the way, make sure not to disable any email accounts until you're positive that all of your contacts are located in iCloud.

The first step would be to sync your Google contacts with the Contacts app on your Mac.

Get help using iCloud Contacts, Calendars, or Reminders -- This article contains all of steps to use iCloud for syncing your contacts across all of your devices. You can also sync your calendars and contacts. If one or more of your contacts don't move following the steps in the article, you'll need to log into iCloud, click "Contacts" and add them manually.

Take care and thanks again!
