compatable monitors for new mac pro

Question

What monitors are supported with the new mac pro? Will my existing 08 monitor work with the new mac pro?

Very very likely your 2008 will work with the latest Mac pro desktop.

The Mac, with appropriate adopters or cables can support monitors with VGA, DVI, HDMI, mini displayport and displayport inputs

Thank you for that response. Do you have any recommendations for monitors under $800 that would be a good choice for the new mac pro?

There are too many to give you a recommendation.

Get a monitor that includes either a displayport or mini displayport input. Those are better than DVI and HDMI, and HDMI can be troublesome.
