Ipad mini 2 freezes

I have a new iPad mini 2. It freezes up a lots. I use to used to have a kindle fire never had that problem. How can I get it to stop doing that?

Try a Reset: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least 10 seconds, until the Apple logo appears. -- Note: No Data will be lost

The iPad stops working like if playing a game it will stop. The only way to start it up again is to close the apps opened. This is when there is only a few apps opened. Like I stated above my kindle did not do this. I bought the ipad hoping for a better product.
