i try tom open a gz file and get an error message :error 32 Broken pipe: can anybody tell me how to open theses files and recover what is in them, In laymen terms please.

I used a program called by Kivisoft to recover my music files on my hard drive. It recovered them okay, but they were in the format of a ZIP folder with a file of gz. But every time I tried to open be ZIP folder I get a error message saying error 32 broken pipe. Does anybody out there know how to open these files and recover the music from them. Could you explain in simple terms as I am not good with software coding Basic user. Thank you
