Q: Image files and syncing via itunes

I use itunes to sync my iPad, my wife's iPad and my iPhone. I am trying to reclaim capacity on my MacBook

Are the image and video files taken on an IOS device transferred to the MacBook?

I back up my MacBook using time machine; will time machine back up image files from an external hard drive?

TM will backup everything on your Mac that you do not exclude - by default external drives are excluded so to backup your EHD you need to remove it from the excluded list in the TM preferences
