iphone 5 is unpaired from watch - but watch isn't unpaired and is locked - so can't unlock or re-pair -

I have been having problems getting the Watch to unlock when I unlock my iPhone. So I tried unpairing the phone and watch (while the watch was locked). The phone unpaired, but the watch did not. Now I still can't unlock, and when turning watch off, I don't have the option of resetting to clear it. How do I get them paired and working again?

Hi

Follow these steps to erase your locked watch and re-pair it with your iPhone:

Connect your watch to its charging cable, with power connected.
Press and hold the side button until you see the Power Off slider.
Press firmly on Power Off (do not try to slide it - just press down more firmly than a normal tap) and then tap on Erase all content and settings.
Re-pair your watch using the Watch app on your iPhone, choosing to Restore from Backup if offered the option.
