Q: Is there a way to combine and play Apple Music playlists?  Specifically those such as Artist Essential and Deep Cuts?

Can I easily, without selecting individual songs, create a playlist from the curated playlists on my iPhone 6s?

The #1 feature I have been using since getting Apple Music on my iPhone is playing the curated Apple Music playlists from various artists.  What I would like to do, is create my own playlists by simply taking the playlist from Apple and combining, which I can do in iTunes.  I first take the the playlist as it is displayed in iTunes and click the three dots and select add to my music and then add to playlist.  I can add entire playlists that way. The limitation in iTunes seems to be that it will create the playlist but with my music only, so if I only 5 of 15 songs listed in an Apple Music artist Essential Playlist as an example, that is what I get in my playlist.  On my phone I can go and play any Apple Music playlist from Apple Music regardless if I own the music or not.  But, I can't create or merge playlists with that music, unless (I think) I add the songs to a custom playlist individually in Apple Music.

    Hello ssraven,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

From your post, I understand that you are not able to add Apple Music to a playlist you have, but can add your purchased music to the same playlist. I love listening to both my purchased music and Apple Music too! I recommend using the steps in the following article:

Add music from the Apple Music catalog to your library on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, or PC

    Add songs, albums, and playlists

You can add songs, albums, playlists, and music videos to your library from anywhere in Apple Music. Items you add on one device are also added to your other devices that are signed in to Apple Music.

On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

    1. In the Music app, find the song, album, or playlist that you want to add.
    2. Tap the More Options icon   to the right of the song or album name.
    3. Tap   to add the song, album, or playlist to My Music.

Songs and albums appear under My Music > Library. Playlists appear under My Music > Playlists.

    On your Mac or PC

    1. In iTunes, find the song, album, or playlist that you want to add in the New or For You tabs, or search within Apple Music. You can search Apple Music from any tab except the iTunes Store.
    2. Click the More Options icon   to the right of the song or album name.
    3. Click   Add to My Music.

Songs and albums appear under My Music. Playlists appear in the sidebar of the Playlists tab under Apple Music Playlists.
