Q: iPhone 4 causing Problems

My iPhone 4 has started causing a lot of problems.

Firstly the home button is not functioning,

I tried the accessibility- 'Assistive Touch' in the settings ,but to activate that too we need to tap the home button thrice, which I am not in a position to do

Secondly, it has stopped charging. It has got some problem with the inbuilt charging port  and is not charging. I am somehow managing it with very less battery that is left, but that wont last long

Also, I have Many books in my iBooks App, and they are extremely important .

Since the battery can go off anytime, i want to merge it with iclouds, but i can see no options in the settings that could merge iBooks with iClouds (although i have merged Contacts with iclouds). Having a copy of those books is extremely necessary for me at present.

SO , if anyone has any suggestions about any of the 3 problems mentioned above...

PLEASE HELP ME!!

iPhone 4, iOS 7.1.2, White Colour

If you go to Settings>General>Accessibility, you can turn on the Assertive Touch from there. The use of the home button to turn it on is just a shortcut.

Battery charging issues. Check the charging port for debris, but with the iPhone 4 and the 30-pin connector, it is not as prevalent as the lightning cable for that. I suggest that you make a Genius Bar appointment, as the battery is probably failing.

If your iBooks are purchases, then you can get them back by logging into your account and downloading without having to pay again.

And regarding iBooks, can i also get my pdfs back?

No you do not. Go to Settings>General>Accessibility>Assistive Touch and turn it on.

For pdfs, I'm guessing these are things you added to iTunes, they should still be in your library.
