Thanks for that info and choosing the Apple Support Communities. I know how important getting this new iPod Shuffle working is to you! If I understand correctly, you are unable to use an auxiliary cable to connect to your car stereo, even though the same cable works with your CD player. I would suggest trying these steps to resolve your issue, and testing after each step:
1. Try resetting your iPod Shuffle, as the shut down and start up process is important to keep the iPod software running properly:How to reset your iPod shuffle
2. Check to make sure that the buttons on your iPod Shuffle are not locked:
Lock and unlock the iPod shuffle buttons
You can lock the buttons on iPod shuffle so that nothing happens if you press them accidentally. This feature requires software version 1.0.1 or later (connect iPod shuffle to iTunes to update the software).
Lock the iPod shuffle buttons:
Press and hold Play/Pause for three seconds.
The status light blinks orange three times when the buttons become locked. If you press a button when the buttons are locked, the status light blinks orange once.
Unlock the buttons:
Press and hold Play/Pause again for three seconds.

If you’re wearing earphones, you hear a tone when you lock or unlock the buttons.
3. Try taking all the music off your iPod Shuffle through iTunes, and then sync the music back over and test that the music plays correctly through headphones before testing with the car stereo again.
Sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iTunes on your computer using USB4. Try resetting your iPod Shuffle, as the shut down and start up process is important to keep the iPod software running properly:
