Q: Windows 7 pro, no keyboard or mouse answer!

After countless hours of searching the Internet I found the answer.  I tried many many times to get this to work but it wouldn't. I would get to a certain point in the in the install where I needed to input data and no mouse or keyboard.

You need boot camp 5.1.5640 but,  you have to add the files listed on this website that can be gotten from the newer version of Boot Camp software. They are the files to allow the USB 3.0 to work with Windows 7. https://gshaw0.wordpress.com/2014/04/01/solving-usb3-issues-on-201314-macs/

I got it working, a few things still didn't work when I booted windows. Network didn't work, my second display didn't work. I then ran Boot Camp 5.1.5640 Inside windows, then Bam! Everything works now. I am running version 10.11.6 El Capitan.

This was by far the easiest solution to the problem. My installation consisted of a USB 2.0 16gb with the ISO of windows 64 pro. With also Boot Camp 5.1 . 5640 modified  from the web link above.

I hope this helps someone. I don't ever give up until I figure everything out!

Added note, you need the un modified boot camp 5.1.560 on a dvd. The modified 5.1.560 on your USB drive with the windows ISO.

Easist way was to scroll down on the web page, it shows you where the files are located on the newer Boot camp. All you do is copy and paste in the correct location on your USB drive.

Tis all needs to be done prior to starting you boot camp/ windows install.

W7 Installers do not have USB3 drivers included. A USB2 is recommended. You found out the hard way.

Please backup OS X, Windows and create a Windows System Restore point for future recovery.

It is also (almost!) documented in Using USB 3 devices on Mac computers - Apple Support under Bootcamp section.

I tried many combinations to get this install done. 4GB usb with boot camp assistant and DVD with the ISO.

Yes I know a USB 3.0 doesn't work. Both trying the 2014 and 2016 boot camp setups. The only thins that worked was modifying the 2014 config with some of the 2016 3.0 USB files and doing it all from the 2.0 USB drive.

Still needed the 2014 Boot camp assistant  on dvd to finish the install while running windows. I was amazed that the second monitor came on after the (Thunderbolt to HDMI) software installed. I took advantage of the windows 10 free upgrade. Kinda liking it. I have one issue left. The scroll portion on my magic mouse wont work. Minor but I will figure it out.

Apple has to many links, click here, click there, sometimes rooting you back to the same page. Never a mention of splicing the two boot camp assistants together.
