Q: touch id not working

about a month ago my touch id had been playing up and asking me to try again. One day i connected my iPhone to my laptop (mac air) to charge it and transfer photos. when i went to make sure all my photos were on my phone i tried doing my touch id but it would not allow me. I went into settings and went into touch id and passcode. i tried several times trying to add a thumb print. No luck. Turned off my phone completely, several times. No luck. Only about 2 months ago i got my screen replaced at apple. However a few days later my touch id was playing up but still could use it. On the the beginning of July it just stopped working. I wondering if anybody has any clue what to do about it ? it would help me so much thanks

iPhone 5s, iOS 9.3.3

It appears that you might have possibly encountered a case of error 53. Common with error 53 cases are that the screen has been replaced and the touch ID module has been disrupted. In more recent versions of iOS, this causes the iPhone to activate security measures and disable touch ID. (it previously would brick the device) This issue would require a hardware fix, however, this seems unlikely since your phone was serviced by Apple. You can try restoring your device's software, which you can learn more about here. Or you can opt to Contact Apple if you believe your Touch ID sensor hardware has been damaged.
