Q: Photos library creation
I just updated my 2008 PowerBook hard drive to a ssd and have the old internal drive in an external drive. I've found the old Photos library with the external hooked up and can select it and view photos but can't create a new library on the new ssd without an error message during transfer of the file. My plan was to drag and drop it to the desktop and place in the new photos folder and find it in photo to make it the new library. It seems it just can't copy a file that big, 90gb and tries but doesn't make it the whole way. I've tried to drag and drop from time machine too with the same problem. Do I need an app or is there a trick in Photo to get that library directly and create a new one on the ssd? I didnt do a direct time machine backup as I wanted a fresh system not cluttered with all the old debris so to speak, everything but the Photos are set up on the new ssd at this point. Thanks!
PowerBook, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

Your old Photos Library may have a corruption and need repairing, before you copy it to the internal drive. There may also be permission and file ownership issues.
I'd try first to repair the Photos Library - how to repair is described on this Help page: https://help.apple.com/photos/mac/1.0/?lang=en#/pht6be18f93
Then try again to drag the library over to the internal drive.
Does it copy without errors? If not, use cloning software (Carbon Copy Cloner, Super Duper). to clone the Photos library to the new location. This can circumvent file errors.
