iBooks frozen since upgrade to iOS 9.3.3

Upgraded my iPad 3 to iOS 9.3.3 and now have iBooks stuck on a PDF document that I opened. Can't get back to library or delete and reinstall iBooks as no way to delete it that I can see. Help?!?

What have you tried so far e.g. have you closed the iBooks app via the iPad's taskbar (Force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support), and/or tried a soft-reset of the iPad (press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds ignoring the ‘slide to power off’, after which the Apple logo should appear and it should reboot) ?

Yes, tried all that. In the end I downloaded another item to iBooks, forcing the app to go to the main menu therefore and letting me see my library again. The same problem occurred when I then tried to open the same PDF file so I decided it was possibly the file and, having downloaded YET another item to get to the main menu, I deleted the offending PDF. At the moment iBooks seems quite happy for me to open items and navigate around so I am hoping it was just a 'buggy' PDF!

Just out of interest, IS it possible to delete apps that Apple have loaded with iOS? None of the Apple-loaded apps get a cross on them when you set all the icons in "wiggle" mode to delete something!

With iOS 9 no, you can't delete any of the built-in apps. With iOS 10, when it's released sometime in the Autumn (an actual date hasn't been announced yet), it should be possible (assuming that it makes it into the released version : Remove built-in Apple apps from the Home screen on your iOS device with iOS 10 beta - Apple Support (I wouldn't advise using iOS 10 beta, by definition it's not ready for release)
