Q: changing names of folders on the iPhone

I am trying to change the names of some of the folders on my iPhone 6S.  I have followed the suggested procedure and it only works for a couple apps, i.e.. travel, not any with the pre-assigned names.  Any suggestions?  Is there a setting on the phone to allow changes to be made?

iPhone 6s, iOS 9.3.2

    Hi, tay1075!

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. From the information you provided, I see you want to change the names of folders on your iPhone 6s. Customizing folder names is a great way to help organize your iPhone's apps to suit your lifestyle, and something I do regularly. I'm happy to help!

You can change the name of any folder, whether the iOS software automatically provides a name or not. If the folder is already created, go into the folder and press and hold any app with your finger until they all start to jiggle. You can then tap in the name field at the top of the folder and use your keyboard to delete the existing name, or press the "x" next to the name to delete it. You'll then be able to rename it to whatever you'd like. Once you've renamed the folder(s), just press the Home button once to exit out of the edit mode.

If a folder is not yet created, press and hold an app you wish to place into a folder from your Home screen until they all jiggle. Then drag the app on top of another app and let go. You'll automatically be brought into the folder that you just created, and can then adjust the name of the folder as described above.

You can get more information on managing folders (and your apps in general) in the article linked below.

    Have a great day!
