Q: Can't find photos backed up to icloud or computer

Every time I back up my iPhone to iTunes and I also back it up to my computer.  However, I can NEVER find the photos on my computer.  I look in the "Pictures" folder", the "Photos" folder and they are never there.  I can't find the pictures I have backed up for over a year.  Have I lost the pictures?  Where are they?  What is the use of backing them up if I can't find them easily?  ITunes is such a pain.... I just want to be able to pull them up on my computer so I can print them or look at them  instead of keeping them on my phone all  the time using up space.  I thought that was why you back them up.  I can't find them in icloud either.   Where am I supposed to look and how do I find my pictures that I copied off of my iPhone so that I can find them straight from my computer, even if I can't access iTunes?  I should be able to pull them up instantly if I am ALSO backing them up on my computer.  SO FRUSTRATING..  I am so so getting sick of iTunes which is supposed to be so easy to use because of the stupid icould and I can't do something simple like this.  Bad enough that we can't just call Apple without having to pay for customer support when I spend hundreds on phones!  Please help, thanks so much!

Every time I back up my iPhone to iTunes and I also back it up to my computer.

An iTunes Backup will include the photos in the Camera Roll and any saved photos you downloaded to your device.

The device backups are compact bundles. You are not supposed to access the photos inside separately. You access the data from an iTunes  backup by restoring your device from the backup.

Photos you are already storing in iCloud are not included in an iTunes backup. See this page:  About backups for iOS devices - Apple Support

A backup is a safety copy of our photos to be able to restore them.

If you want to move  photos to  your computer so you can work with them, import them to Photos for Mac or iPhoto, what ever you are using. You can do that by connecting the device to a USB port and then launch the photo application of your choice:  Image Capture, iPhoto, Photos, whatever you are using. With Image Capture you can save the photos to folders on your Mac, and iPhoto or Photos will store them in a photo library and you can see them when you launch the the application.

Please explain, how you are using iCloud. If your iPhone is using iCloud Photo Library and you keep deleting photos from your iPhone, the deletion will sync to iCloud.  Do not delete any photos from your iPhone, if iCloud Photo Library is active on the device. The photos will be removed from iCloud and device syncing with iCloud photo library. Delete only photos you want to get rid of everywhere.
