known issues with compatibility for Canon mx870
Is anyone aware of issues with ElCapitan not working with Canon MX870 printer

Your printer should work. If it doesn't:
1. Go to Printers and Scanners in System Preferences.
2. The printer should appear in the list at the left.
3. Select it and delete it by clicking on the - sign.
4. Then add a new printer by clicking the + sign.
5. When the Mac finds the printer, add it.
6. Try printing.
