Q: What do I do if I was using my device and all of a sudden it turns of and then when I turn it back on it says that I need to activate it?

What do I do if I was using my device and all of a sudden it turns of and then when I turn it back on it says that I need to activate it? It just turned off I didn't do anything to cause this.

iPod touch, iOS 9.3.3, iPod 5

    Try force restarting the iPod.

     

    Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least ten seconds, until you see the Apple logo.

    If it needs activation it may have been remotely erased or could be damaged or faulty.

    Where did you purchase the device from? How old is it?

     

    You could take it to an Apple store to see if they can fix, repair or replace it depending on what appears to be the problem. The first consultation will be free.

     

    It could help if you clarified what device this is. Do you have any iCloud or iTunes backups? You may need to restore one of them if you can activate it.
