Q: Apple Watch Broken Screen

Hi,

I bought an apple watch sports model just 20 days back.  Unfortunately while I was trying to wear the watch after charging, it fell down and surprisingly the glass broke.  IMG_2984.JPG

I visited nearby Apple Service Center and they tested by opening the watch with the pass code.  It opened and they were able to see the time etc.  They also confirmed that only the glass is broken and the watch is OK nothing inside got damaged.  But surprisingly when I asked to replace the glass, I was told that the entire watch needs to be replaced and the cost would be as equal to the new watch and I was told to decide to go for replacement or to buy a new watch.  I mean this seems to be odd, when breaking is so easy, the replacement should also be.

I contacted the apple support and was in a call with them for more than an hour.  I was asked if I have any other apple products and I gave the serial numbers of 1 iPad, 2 phones (6s and 6s Plus).  Not sure how this helps in fixing the watch.  They made me to wait for more than an hour on the call and finally I was told that the breakage doesn't comes under warranty.  I already know that fact that there is no warranty for broken glass.  I am ready to pay for the glass but not the entire watch cost. I was suggested not to wear this broken watch   This in a way telling us to be ready with the money for the watch cost as anytime it can break.

My query is that, if the glass is such breakable, then the replacement should be done that easily by the service centers.  I am not sure why I should be charged for the entire watch cost.  To be honest, now I dunno what I should do with this broken watch.
