GoPro to FCPX Workflow

GoPro to FCPX Workflow

Hi - I've found lots of contradictory answers on this topic so was hoping I could get this confirmed: Is importing straight from GoPro into FCPX going to give you the same quality as importing into GoPro studio first, exporting as .MOV and then using that in FCPX?

Some answers I've seen say the conversion will GoPro Studio will result in a higher quality file but other answers I've seen suggest importing footage straight from GoPro and selecting "Optimised" is just as good.

I'd be interested to know what everyone uses to achieve the best quality video from GoPro and FCPX.

IIt'll be the same. There's a huge amount of obsolete information on the web, much of it without any date stamp.

The movie will be the same, as TW says. We use the GP software because it allows us to make some edits and adjustments before importing to FCPX.

If we took the time and effort to objectively evaluate this workflow, we'd probably find it was unnecessary and maybe even a waste of time.

Thanks - yes, this is what I thought. The only advantage I can see of going through GP software first is to accurately remove fisheye distortion but I would assume there's a way to do this in FCPX anyway (with a bit of digging around).
