Q: How to access library on inherited iPod?

The Apple help desk guy took 15 minutes of analysis to arrive at telling me my problem was what I told him it was in my opening statement, sheeesh.

In a relationship split, I got the iPod that had been registered to my ex. I can play everything (1200+ tunes, all but 36 were loaded from CDs), but don't have access to load these into my iTunes account library. I wish to remove some tunes, add some tunes from CDs, add some iTunes purchase tunes, but wish to retain what is already there. Is there some work-around to accomplish this?

Thanks for any attention paid to this :-)

Where are the CDs these are from? If the ex got custody of them then you really don't have a legal right to those songs. If instead the ex in a fit of rage admitted those are yours and then took a hammer and smashed them all you will need to use 3rd party software to transfer them to your music library. You don't say what time of computer you have. I have used both Phoneview (Mac only) and TouchCopy (Mac and PC) and both work very, very well in transferring material from an iDevice to a computer. They both cost money but are good to have around for situations like yours.

Thank you so much deggie! I'll have to check those out.

PS. the Cds were a blend of ours, some of which she "kindly" boxed for me, ha, some not
