Q: Final cut pro not working with iCloud music

I have Final cut pro 10.2.3 its only the trial version, I was going to buy it but I'm having an annoying issue possibly due to user error. when i download music from the cloud and try to put it on final cut the song appears but it has no audio as if the song never had any audio recorded on it. if i double click it before i drag it over it plays the song, whats up is this me or final cut or a trial issue?

p.s. if i download the mp3 off of youtube i can use it but that isn't ideal, and songs i owned before iCloud work just fine.

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.4), null

You need to clarify what the 'iCloud music' files are.

Apple Music is a streaming service that puts DRM on the files - you are not allowed to put them into video editing apps & reuse them.

iTunes also sells files without DRM.

The iTunes Match service is DRM free, often called 'iCloud Music Library'

This may help you work out some of the nuances of the different services…

Frankly it is a complex mess but that is what the music companies seem to want.

Non-DRM files could be put into video projects, however you will still need to consider that copyright applies to those files & you may need permission from the content rights holder - depending on what you are doing.

When you purchase a song from the iTunes Store, you don't owe it, only a license to play it. You don't get a license to synchronize it with video. Apple has never allowed its pro apps to do this. You can transcode to music to AIFF or WAV using iTunes and that file should work for you.
