Q: App stuck in control center

Do you mean the taskbar at the bottom? Is so tap and hold an icon until they all start to wiggle. Then drag the message app out of the task bar into your home screen.

Try a restart and/or forced restart:

Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

and see if it returns.

Can you post a screenshot showing the apps current location?

Dock and Control Center. I have never seen an app get stuck in the control center. It would be impossible unless your device is jail broken.

That, my friend, is not the Control Center. That is the Search page, and you are looking at apps that you have used previously. Nothing at all to be worried about. They have not changed locations, they are just there if you wish to use them. When you swipe again to the left, you will go back to the home page.

I see...  You are on the search screen which displays the most frequently used. What does the Homepage(s) shows? The Message App is native and cannot be deleted. It is there somewhere, you just have to look for it as it may be in a folder.

That's not the control center. That is the Search/Siri Suggestions part of the phone. Those app icons represent apps that you have recently used. If you tap on the Messages icon, it will launch the app.

Type Messages in the search field at the top of the screen. It will show the messages app icon. If you accidentally put it into a folder, it will show the name of the folder on the right.

You can also reset the home screen layout in Settings>General>Reset>Reset home screen layout. However, that will destroy any folder structure that you have on the home screen, but It will return the messages icon to the home screen

I'm not sure I would get much work done with that iPad wallpaper.
