The Full Installer is 6.2GB. The Combo Update is 1.5GB. The update from the App Store is about .8GB.
The software update via the OS X App Store displayed a combined iTunes and OS X 10.11.6 update download progress at about 800+ MB total. I ran a Time Machine backup before the update, and one immediately afterward. The after backup indicated that Time Machine was backing up 2.7 - 3.2 GB depending on which of my Macs was involved.
