Q: Will iMac perform faster than Mac mini when exporting video files in Apple Compressor?
I want to export 3-8 hours long videos using Apple Compressor in 720p, 3 a day.
I plan to use Final Cut Pro X.

Mac Mini late 2012: CPU: Core i7 2.6 GHz; RAM: 16 GB; Video Card:
HD Graphics 4000, 512 MB;
iMac specs late 2015: CPU: Core i5 2.8 GHz; RAM: 16 GB; Video Card:
Iris Pro 6200, 1.7 GB;
The SSD is identical.
Thanks for your answers!

As far as a desktop model is concerned the iMac is faster than the Mini, all other things being equal. Unfortunately, they aren't. Looking at the submitted benchmarks at the Geek Bench site will help you because you cannot compare computers you don't own. Look at the benchmark results that are available at the Geek Bench website. Should enable you to get a feel for the two machines given the two configurations.
The 2015 iMac's i5 is a current model featuring much better built-in graphics and video performance. An i5 is about 20% slower overall than a similar model i7 at the same clock speed. A quad-core CPU is twice as fast as a dual-core CPU, all other things being equal. The i5 in the iMac is clocked faster than the i7 in the Mini plus it is a desktop CPU rather than a mobile CPU in the Mini. All things considered my money is on the iMac or that both can provide similar performance depending on use. Graphic and Video performance will be better on the iMac. Raw processing power may be favored by the i7. But I can't give you a definitive answer. I'm basically giving a somewhat educated guess. Real benchmark results provide a better metric, although GeekBench does not benchmark graphics.
