the remote should have buttons on the appletv4g should control the volume on your tv like your TV's remote does
at least mine does

More generally, you control the volume the same way you do for other TV programs. ATV has no volume control itself. As Rudegar said, with ATV 4, you can program its remote to control TV volume.
