Q: mics and video not recognized in USB

I've a Mac Mini from 2010 - it still works great for so many things. My current system is 10.11.5.  Before, I could attach cameras and mics (including a Yeti Pro) via the USB inputs. Now none of these devices are recognized in any of the 5 USB plug in areas. My USB works with my printer. But all of my audio and video devices might as well be invisible. My Sys Prefs does not show anything other than the built in mic.  My MIDI Audio Devices does not even show USB as an option to configure. I read on the web so many problems with El Capitan. Is there some way I can fix this on my otherwise very dependable Mac Mini? Pleeeeaaasssseee help.

everything connected to usb require a device driver on the system to work

some drivers are included with the operating system, but many are not

in which case the user has to go to the site of the device and download a driver if they have one which is compatible with the operating system the user use.

Thank you. I appreciate your replying to me. I have my Yeti Pro connected right now, and will investigate Blue's site. But this is happening even with the cheapest of mics and video cameras, where before (going back a year or two) it was just plug-and-work, no problems.

Isn't there something "bigger" happening here? I keep reading about El Capitan and the loss of USB inputs for audio and video. I keep digging deeper and deeper into my system, but cannot find anywhere some "switch" to simply turn my USB on, if it is even "off".  Any other thoughts?

I just checked the Blue Mic website. Yeti Pro is a plug & play, and with the Mac does not need drivers.

It's not the mic, it's the mac - that's the problem. My USB inputs simply are not recognizing any audio or video attachments, even though everything worked great a year or two earlier. The little red light on my Yeti Pro lights up, signifying that it is receiving current from my mac. But my mac is not recognizing that there is an external mic attached. Scanning for MIDI shows nothing. It's as if my mics & video are in another dimension......

Only my HP printers work using USB.  Any help would be sincerely appreciated!
