I bought I pad 2 in March 2013 and my kid was using it until today, he told me to clean it and I tried to restore it using Itune, when I tried to login into Icloud account, I couldn’t get in, actually I have changed my previous apple id with a new one, which was my secondary account, when I tried to recover the @icloud.com password. it seems I mistyped my birthday while registering for a new iCloud ID. I also promptly forgot my password. Now, when I try to reset my password, I am given two options : reset through email and reset through security questions. When I try the former, I am not getting any reset link to my secondary ID,  I believe the email is being sent to my iCloud mail, which is what I am trying to access in the first place. Through the second option, I am asked my birthday which again seems to have been registered wrongly. As a result, I will be unable to use my iPad. Is there any way to get out of this mess? I will be able to answer the three security questions if prompted. Many thanks

iPad 2, iOS 9.3.3

If you are unable to remember your password, security questions, don’t have access to your rescue address or are unable to reset your password for whatever reason, your only option is to contact Apple ID Support, upon speaking to an operator you should explain that your problem is related to your Apple ID, this way you will not be charged for assistance, even if you don’t have an AppleCare plan.

You will need to show patience with the procedure and be prepared to demonstrate without question that the account belongs to you. Don’t expect access to be restored immediately and if you aren’t the owner of the Apple ID registered to the device the account won’t be reset.
