Q: mouse not working right. It jumps all over screen by itself

Since upgrading to latest version of El Capitan I have a problem with my mouse and my Trackpad 2. The trackpad doesn't work at all even though it is connected and bluetooth is working. The mouse jumps all over the screen and it is hard to get it to land on the spot I want.

iMac (27-inch, Late 2012), OS X El Capitan (10.11.2)

If the mouse you mention is a Magic Mouse 1, that is probably the reason why.   Magic mouse 1 does work to some degree but you need Magic Mouse 2 for the fullest effect once you have upgraded to El Capitan.  I would add, with new OSs on the horizon (Sierra), your need for MM2 becomes even more pressing.

Apple Support resolved the problem with the mouse over the phone, at least for now. They couldn't fix the Trackpad and arranged for it to be repaired and evaluated at the store. It is still under warranty. So they should be able to fix or replace it.
