My battery swelled and ruined cracked my mouse pad.

    There is no recall. I suspect you have an older Mac that is not covered by warranty.

    From your description it is not clear what Mac model you have. Your equipment line says "2002" but the MacBook Pro did not exist before 2006. If that is just a type and the compute is relatively new, take the good advice that lllaass has provided. If your computer was discontinued more that five years ago, the Apple store won't work on it.

     

    You can enter the serial number into this Apple support page to find out if Apple still considers your computer "current" and "supported."
