Q: Maps thinks search for "deli" is New Delhi, India

I am utterly astounded at how bad Apple Maps search is in regards to simple logic.

I live in New York City. I was in a new neighborhood and wanted to find a decent deli. I go to Apple Maps and type "deli" into the search, it takes me to New Delhi, India. I am surrounded by hundreds of delis and Maps decides I would rather see DELHI thousands of miles away.

Another infuriating thing for people who live in a city is how it zooms out when you search. If I want to find a good neighborhood cafe, I can't because when I search in NYC it zooms out to encompass all of Manhattan or Brooklyn.

Like holy **** Apple did you not test this at all in the past few years it has existed?! Clearly you have, so how does stuff like this still happen?

Try delicatessen.

You are trying to search using the abbreviation of a word.

A good suggestion, but doesn't solve the user experience issue this provides for New Yorkers. No one calls them "delicatessens" so people won't know to do that. The actual location names say "deli" for the most part, so regardless of dictionary word it should be matching the text string.

Try it in Google Maps, it works perfectly. Shows me all my local delis.

Perhaps the deli that Maps found in New Delhi is, in fact, the best deli close to the eastern seaport. I think you should go try it and leave us users alone.
