Hi Ted,
You're welcome.
Numbers provides a description of every supported function in the Function Browser, which open whenever you click on a cell and type =
The browser allows searching for a specific function (or set of related functions), or seeing the list of functions in a specific category (by clicking the category name before entering anything in the search box.
Besides descriptions, the Browser provides at least one example of how you might use the function in a spreadsheet document.
Definitely worth exploring.
After reading "I've been using Pages for years," I did some exploring myself and found:
If you copy a Numbers 3 table with formulas then paste it into a Pages '09 document, he formulas are lost, and what is pasted in the last calculated result. inconvenient, but you can reinsert the formulas by copying them from the Formula Editor in Numbers, then double-clicking the same cell in the table in Pages, typing =, then pasting the copied formula into the Pages '09 table cell.
Pasting the same table into a Pages 5 document keeps the formulas intact.
I mention this because there are several Pages users who have stuck with Pages '09 rather than use the current version, which is missing several useful features included in Pages '09.
Regards,
Barry
