Nothing happens when I add an .mp4 file to my TV Shows library

I have 25+ GB worth of .mp4 files (for the TV Show Ghost Adventures) and I'm trying to add them to my iTunes library so I can watch them on my iPhone. Apple Support says the files aren't supported by iTunes. Any converter or something? And a tutorial of what I need to do? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks! 🙂

Typically video files added to iTunes end up in the Home Videos section. If there is something about the format of the file that iTunes doesn't like it will silently ignore your request to add the file. To test copy one of the files you want to add into the folder Automatically Add to iTunes which is inside your media folder. iTunes will either add the content to the library and move it (initially to Home Videos for most video files) or it will move the file into a Not Added folder. It is worth noting also that hidden files are silently discarded so make sure they're not hidden. If the file is moved into non added you will know for certain that iTunes doesn't like it for some reason, sample rate, audio format or something, but at least you'll know. If it goes to Home Videos you can change the media kind.
