Forgotten to register Apple care

Hi, quick question;

I've purchased my MacBook Pro 13' two and a half years ago in California, paid for apple care at the same time and was told that it would be registered automatically. Apparently, it hasn't been registered, since I have checked with my serial number on the website and there is no coverage. However, I do have a proof of purchase (a receipt from the Apple store). Do you think my coverage should still work? (My charger is having problems and I don't want to spend too much buying a new one.)

If you have the receipt, then call Apple support and they should be able to register it. They may ask you to scan and email the receipt, but you should be fine. I had the situation once several years ago where I bought an iMac for a disabled family member, and the AppleCare did not register with the purchase. Once I contacted support, they asked for the emailed receipt and had my coverage showing online within 24hrs of that.
