iPhone 5s Autoplays in Prius

Hi folks,

My iPhone 5s bluetooth is sync with my 2013 Prius for hands free use and automatically included my iTunes (which I don't use). Every time I start the car, iTunes snaps on and starts to play music from the cloud (I don't use my iPhone for music storage). Even with data setting to WiFi only, iTunes seems to have a mind of it's own. Am I missing a step in the settings?

Thanks

David

Finally got a Apple support tech to help; search their data base with a senior level tech. It helped to delete the BT connection from the iPhone and car, then resync; this refreshed the connection and settings, stopping the automatic launching of the music app. The phone will still play last audio app, closing the app before entering the car will prevent autoplay. So far it's working and the iPhone is behaving.

A sort of epilogue to the bug. After deleting and re-paring of the iPhone to the Prius, the old problems came back with additional problems after the iOS 10 update; phone not answering via bluetooth, iTunes auto play or conflicts with Spotify and Hoopla ...etc. The firmware with the car maybe needing to be updated, but the lack of backwards compatibility with a car unit is major problem for everyday users.

That's not a function of the phone, it's a function of the head unit in your car. The phone is simply responding to a command from the stereo to begin playback. Not sure why it's playing "from the cloud" unless it has music cached locally and that's what it's playing back. I imagine if you let it go on, it would stop when the buffer runs out.

But your hands free BT and the stereo BT should be independent? My iPhone is always connected to the hands free system, but only ever interacts with the stereo if I actively select BT as the audio source. Is a Prius truly that limited that all BT services are integrated into a single feature?

BT Hands Free and the A2DP protocols are completely independent BT profiles - they should have nothing to do with one another in any vehicle.
