Shared albums not updating on all devices

Using MacBook Air with OS X Yosemite version 10.10.5 & iPhone 6s. Have several shared photo albums on iCloud, created using Photos on the laptop. Recently, photos added by me on my laptop do not appear in the shared album on that same device, but do appear on the phone. Other users are able to view the photos. This album has about 1000 pictures. I tried creating a new shared album on the laptop, & it is appearing as an empty album on the phone, not appearing at all on the laptop. Any suggestions for getting these devices to sync so I can view photos on both devices? I prefer to use my laptop for all updates & editing. Thanks.

Try to reset the shared albums on your laptop.

Quit Photos.
Disable System Preferences > iCloud > Photos: Options : iCloud Photo Sharing
Restart your mac
Enable System Preferences > iCloud > Photos: Options : iCloud Photo Sharing, and enable iCloud Photo Sharing again in Photos > Preferences > iCloud.

The shared albums should reappear, but it may take several days for them to populate again.

There's no need to restart the Mac.

Simply unchecking the shared album in preferences and re-checking will reset and download the images again.

How many photos do you have in the shared albums? iCloud is limiting the upload and download to iCloud Photo Sharing, since the service is free and does not use the paid iCloud storage. If you exceed one of the limits it will pause for a day.

Did you update any software recently? I had the same problem after I first updated to Yosemite. The shared albums worked in iOS 8, but not in Yosemite and needed a restart.

If you are using the Photos app on your Mac, consider to upgrade to El Capitan. Photos is much more versatile in El Capitan and many bugs have been fixed.

why several days? I disabled and re-enabled IPS to solve the same issue mentioned in this thread. Several of the shared albums have repopulated but the repopulation has apparently ceased, leaving several shared albums empty.

I have this same problem, and I'm nowhere near the limits suggested by this support article. Photos started repopulating the shared albums, and then it just stopped. I've left it open for several days and nothing has changed. Oh, and I have El Capitan 10.11.6 and Photos 1.5.

Because Photo sharing on iCloud *****. The fact that it isn't even aware to inform you of an error or failure to notify the user is proof of how poor sync is. I am going to Lightroom instead.
