This worked for me in the past. Just reinstalled a fresh OS X to HD, and iCloud has been downloading files back onto drive. Seems to have completed. I tried to update the icon for a few folders and all it shows up as is the default JPG or PNG file. Any ideas?

I'm having problems with this as well. I cannot change the icon for my USB flashdrive. When I first got this Macbook Pro a couple of years ago, I was able to change the icon for my folders, and they haven't been affected. My USB flashdrive however, changed back to a regular flashdrive logo probably within the last couple of months. So I tried to change it back to what it was before but now I'm having the same problem you're having.
