Jul 28, 2016 12:00 PM in response to TheMothWranglerby SnickZ.,Hi there, TheMothWrangler,
From what I'm reading, you're using iTunes on either a Windows 7 or Windows 8 PC and trying to change the album's artwork on some of your music but for some reason you're not able to. When I'm selecting music to play, I use the visual cue of the album cover to help me locate what I'm looking for. Since this should be a feature that's available to you, I'll be more than glad to help you get this problem sorted.
iTunes 12 for Windows: Add artwork to songs and other items -- Here is the article that provides the instructions to change your album's artwork.
Get the latest version of iTunes -- If you've already tried those steps, make sure that you have the latest version of iTunes that's compatible with your operating system.
Remove and reinstall iTunes and related software components for Windows 7 and later -- If you have the latest iTunes version but still not able to replace the artwork, there may have been a problem with how iTunes was installed. Follow the directions in this article making sure to remove the components in the order provided. After you reinstall iTunes remember to restart your PC so that the drivers are seated correctly.Take care and thanks for using Apple Support Communities!

Jul 28, 2016 7:27 PM in response to SnickZ.by TheMothWrangler,Thanks for the advice. Non of these worked. I have the same feelings about
iTunes today after 5 months in 2016 as I dd when I tried back in 2008: Not
user friendly and they make it hard to contact someone when you have a
issue.

Jul 29, 2016 9:02 AM in response to TheMothWranglerby turingtest2,You cannot manually add artwork to tracks in .wav format, that are marked as read only, or for which your account does not have the correct security permissions. Assuming it isn't the first issue see Repair security permissions for iTunes for Windows.
