Q: GoPro Videos from iPhoto to iMovie

I uploaded my GoPro Hero4 videos to iPhoto on my Macbook Pro (then deleted them all off my SD card). Now I want to edit them in iMovie but cannot figure out how to transfer those videos from iPhoto to iMovie. I tried making a smart album but that only included the movies from my iPhone, not the GoPro. I just want to figure out how to get those videos over to iMovie. Thank you!

What version of iMovie do you have? Of the OS? Of Photos?

What are the smart album criteria you have?  They should be in the standard videos album in Photos?

Are you using iPhoto or the new Photos?

A work around is to export the videos out of your library as an original file and then access them with iMovie from wherever you put them on the hard drive.

If you're running El Capitan update iMovie to the latest version (v. 10.1.2) and you should be able to access the videos in the library (whether it is an iPhoto or Photos library) as show in this screenshot:
