Messages no longer synchronized.

Hi, everyone.

I have recently changed my Apple / iCloud password and noticed an unwanted change. Before the change all my Apple devices had the Messages app synchronized between them. In other words, whenever I sent or received a message this message would appear on all my devices. By devices I refer to my Mac Pro desktop, Powerbook Pro, iPad and iPhone.

Since I changed my password I noticed this is no longer the case. When I send a message from one device this message does not appear on the others. The same applies to messages I receive (most of them).

What has happened and how can I fix it ?

Thank you in advance.

Hello apple_customer,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. It's my understanding your iMessages are no longer syncing between all devices. I know how important it can be to have updated messages with each device. I am happy to help.
First it's important to make sure each device is signed in with the correct Apple ID and password. Please try signing out and back in on each device. Follow the steps below if needed:

  1. On every Mac that you own, open Messages. From the menu bar, choose Messages > Preferences, then click Accounts. Click iMessage in the left column, then click Sign Out. Open FaceTime. From the menu bar, choose FaceTime > Preferences and sign out.
  2. On every iPhone, iPad, and iPod that you own, go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Sign out of your Apple ID. Do the same in Settings > FaceTime.
  3. On your iPhone, check that iMessage is on in Settings > Messages. Then tap Send & Receive, choose “Use your Apple ID for iMessage,” and sign in with your Apple ID. With the same Apple ID, sign back in to Messages and FaceTime on your other devices.
  4. If you still need help, change your Apple ID password and repeat the previous step.

Add or remove your phone number in iMessage or FaceTime on your iPad, iPod touch, or Mac.
If the issue persists make sure your phone number is is added to iMessage. You can check this on your iPhone by going to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. If your number is not shown or doesn't have a check, follow the steps in link above.
Have an amazing day!

Hi,

I would add one extra step between 2 and 3

Once you have Signed out on each device including the iPhone Turn Off Messages on the iPhone.

Then after a short wait turn it back On again and wait for the Number to verify.

Once this is done add the Apple ID to the first Mac.

Test from the iPhone to the Apple ID (entry in Manually or select it from the choices in Contacts)

If this works add the apple ID back to the iPhone.

Accept the pop ups on the Mac saying what the iPhone is using.

Add the apple ID to each device in turn accepting the pop ups.
