Q: Stream Video Freezing

Dears,

When trying to stream video on web sites such as CNN or MSNBC, my MacBook Pro Retina, Early 2015, with Version 10.11.6 keeps freezing, like the internet connection is bad. But problem is internet connection is great. This issue started only recently and I already tried to uninstall Flash and instal it again, but doesn't help. Also, video on YouTube works just well.

Are you having similar problem? Do you think maybe it has to do something with Safari?

Thanks,

MD

    Hi, MilosDimitrije!

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. I see in your post that certain websites, like CNN or MSNBC, are having difficulty playing video even though other sites, like YouTube, are working fine. I stream video on my Mac every day, so I know how important it is for those videos to play. I'm happy to help provide you some troubleshooting steps to try.

To get started, I would recommend clearing out Safari's history, cookies, and website data. You can get information on how to clear your Safari history here: Safari 9 (El Capitan): Clear your browsing history

More information on clearing your cookies and website data from Safari can be found here: Safari 9 (El Capitan): Manage cookies and website data

After you've done those two steps, quit Safari by clicking the Safari menu (next to the Apple  menu in the upper left of your screen) and selecting Quit Safari. Then, open the app again and try playing a video on one of the sites you'd been having a problem with.

If you're still having trouble playing video, I'd recommend turning off any extensions you may have installed in Safari. You can get instructions to do that under the "Turn off or uninstall extensions" section of this article: Install and manage Safari extensions on your Mac

After you've turned off all your extensions, test to see if the videos in question play. If so, turn your extensions back on one at at time, testing after each one is enabled to isolate which extension could be causing the issue. Once you've identified it, delete that particular extension.

If you've turned off your extensions and the issue persists, though, my next recommendation would be to set up a new user account and access the sites you're having trouble with there. The following article will give you some more information on why testing in a new user account will be helpful, and walk you through setting one up if you need help: How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac

Have a great rest of your day!
